What is Realign Counselling?
The fundamental theory of Realign Counselling is that we all have an 'inner self', it's the home of our gut feelings and instincts and it's this that guides us in making choices and decisions. However our 'outer self' (ie us in the world, what we do, where we're from, the story of us) is impacted, influenced and programmed by our experiences in childhood, our parents, education and school life, relationships, society, the media and circumstances/traumas/or loss in our lives.
We can then become disjointed and out of alignment from our 'inner self'. As a result we can feel we have lost our Mojo, held ourselves back, made poor decisions, or we begin to feel stressed, overwhelmed, lost, stuck, confused and/or unfulfilled. The further away we are from our 'inner self' the more anxious, hopeless and depressed we can feel. Life then becomes like groundhog day where we just go through the motions of daily life on automatic pilot, sometimes observing life rather than being in it. Or trying and doing but not getting anywhere, like you are constantly going upstream or running a constant upward incline on the treadmill of life. This can go on so long that you forget what you are even striving for. We may reach for quick fixes along the way such as alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, and other addictions to numb out the resistance/emptiness/pain. Or try and take control with rigid ways of thinking such as anxious thoughts and OCD type behaviours. If this goes on long enough we can begin feel despondent, overwhelmed, confused, hopeless and wonder what is even the point of pushing forward and if perhaps if anyone would even care if we weren't here anymore.
The good news is, that no matter where you are on your journey, you never become detached from your 'inner self', it is always there waiting for you, it is part of who we are, you simply need to gain clarity, refocus and realign key aspects of your 'self', and Vicki can show you HOW! By taking you on a journey of self discovery, healing old wounds and traumas, clearing away old habitual thinking and limiting beliefs, with simple steps and techniques that can quickly help you feel more yourself, happier, calmer, more confident, in control and more resilient to cope with life's challenges.
FAQ
How long is a session?
Each session is for 50 minutes.
How many sessions will I need and how often?
This is very tricky to answer as everyone is different, and the process varies from person to person. However, most of Vicki's clients have regular weekly sessions for at least 6 to 12 months and some are ready to move on sooner or later than that. It can often depend on what you are bringing and if you have had counselling before. When there has been childhood trauma and no previous experience of counselling it is likely you will need at least 12 to 24 months of therapy. Therapy is not a quick fix, it is a journey and requires a commitment to the process.
Do I have to have weekly sessions?
When you begin therapy you tend to be stuck in survival mode with a lot of limiting belief's and conditions of worth. As we work through those issues you will begin to unravel and loosen them up, releasing trapped and stuck emotions and trauma from the body which can make you feel vulnerable and even fragile. If there is a gap between sessions you can slump back into survival mode again, and take one step forward and two steps back. This just prolongs the process and means someone having sessions every two weeks will take much longer to feel progress. It is important however, to start to spread sessions out at the right time to create challenge and encourage more confidence in maintaining balance and wellbeing. So Vicki will work with you to find the right time to start spreading your sessions out to every 2 weeks, 3 weeks and then once a month and so on.
Can I have two or more sessions a week?
Yes, you can have as many sessions a week as you need. Some clients prefer two or more separate sessions a week and others prefer to book a two hour session ie one session after the other.
What is the difference between an online and In person session?
In an ideal world a face to face session is always going to feel more profound than online. Just because we spend so much of our time on our devices in a world that is so instant, demanding and full of distractions. Time to 'be' in person with another is more immediate and creates the space to be more present. However Vicki has clients all over the world so it is not always practical or possible to have an in person session. In terms of the quality of the sessions, everything is energy and we are therefore all connected so Vicki can read your energy just as affectively online as she would in person. In fact many clients who have had regular in person sessions with Vicki and then a one off online session due to being unwell etc often decide to stay with online sessions as they say they don't feel there is any difference and it is more convenient as there is no travel costs or time to and from sessions to factor in. Online sessions however, do require a comfortable room where you will not be seen, overheard or interrupted.
How will I know when I don't need therapy anymore?
You can stop your sessions whenever you choose although Vicki's aim is to help you get you to where you want to be and feel confident in maintaining that, so she will work with you to explore when you feel ready to start spreading out your sessions to every 2 weeks and then every month or every 3 months etc. and/or when you feel ready to stop/pause. However many clients choose to stick with monthly sessions with Vicki for years and see it as part of their self care routine to check in/off load and stay aligned.
Can I just book a session with Vicki or do I need to book an introductory session first?
You will need to book an introductory session with Vicki first before you can book in any counselling sessions. Following that Vicki will email you an e-form to complete and sign online. Once she has received the completed forms she will email you to confirm you can go ahead and book in your counselling sessions.
What if I need to cancel or change my appointments?
Just log in to your account any time to cancel or rearrange your appointments - please remember you must provide more than 24 hours notice to cancel or change an appointment or you will still be charged.
Can I book more than one appointment at a time?
Yes, you can either pay as you go and book one appointment at a time. Or you can purchase a block of 4, 6, 8 or 12 session credits to add to you account, then use your credits to book your sessions weeks or even months in advance on the days and times that work best for you. Most clients prefer to book 4 to 6 sessions at a time to avoid missing out on their preferred day and time.
What if I can't find an available appointment day and time?
Unfortunately Vicki does at times get fully booked. So it is best to book your appointments well in advance. However you can also add yourself to a waiting list for the appointment you would like so if someone cancels you will be notified and can then go ahead and book.
What are your session fees?
Session fees vary from £80 per session to £120 per session depending on whether you choose to pay and book as you go or if you buy blocks of credit.
Is there a way I can spread the cost of the block fee for buying credits?
Yes, some people choose to buy blocks of credit on credit cards to pay off weekly/monthly, Or at checkout you can choose to use Clearpay to spread the cost of the payment.

How do I know where to go for an In Person Session
When you purchase an In Person session Vicki will email you with travel and parking information for her private practice near West Byfleet in Surrey UK. There are direct trains from London Waterloo (just 25 minutes) and the train station is only an 8-10 minute walk to Vicki's private practice. For those that drive Vicki's private practice is just 10-15 minutes from the M3, A3 & M25 (Junction 10 & 11). Parking is available at the pracatice or on local roads.
Can I mix and match in person and online sessions?
Yes, some people choose to have an online session when they are feeling under the weather or whilst on holiday or a work trip. Some like to have one session a month in person and the rest online to reduce travel costs. It is entirely up to you.
Can I book a session with you if I am under 18?
I am afraid not. Whilst Vicki has worked with children and young people in the past she now only works with people over 18.
Do you work with couples?
No Vicki does not work with couples but often she finds couples benefit from their own individual therapy before commencing couples therapy. So if you are looking to have couples therapy Vicki would be happy to see you on an individual basis first so that you can get clarity about how you feel and prepare you for couples counselling. Please note Vicki can only see you, your partner will need to find their own counsellor to prepare for couples counselling.
Can I refer you to my friends and colleagues?
Yes, most of Vicki's clients come from referrals from other clients so feel free to direct them to this website where they can book an introductory chat with Vicki. Please be aware though each client deserves to have a counsellor who knows nothing about them so Vicki will not be able to work with people close to you such as your partner, children or parents etc or anyone you regularly discuss in your sessions.
